Start with the MW2 layer
The description calls this a Rust rewrite of MW2's multiplayer, including maps, guns, killstreaks and HUD. You can find a lobby, host one or use bots, with an advertised maximum of 18 players. Initial startup asks you to confirm the MW2 directory and whether Skate 3 is available. Melty is the publishing profile; the maker credit is chasmlol, and the page also credits vladtrc's IW4L and MinecraftOSS.
Skating is optional, but its files are specific
Press J or click both controller sticks to switch onto a board on a map, according to the creator's instructions. Skating uses Skate 3 physics, tricks and grinds and needs a controller even though J is a toggle. The companion must be an extracted Xbox 360 copy with default.xex and the adjacent data folder, not an ISO. Without those files the skating layer is off; the listing does not say the whole project becomes unavailable.
Choose the Minecraft tab for block destruction
The MINECRAFT tab in Create Game opens a world described as Minecraft 26.3, with a day-night cycle and hostile mobs. Shooting or knifing breaks blocks that you can then place, the inventory uses MW2 styling, and grenades destroy terrain like TNT. Its first-start file download is a separate preparation step. The game tags alone should not be turned into a claim that all three titles must be purchased; follow the release's stated dependencies for each mode.
Limitations and things to know
- Skating needs both a controller and extracted Xbox 360 Skate 3 data; an ISO is not a usable substitute.
- The advertised 18-player capacity is a listing figure, not a measured stability result.
- Independent fan project, not affiliated with Activision, Infinity Ward, EA or Mojang.
This is an editorial overview, not a claim of hands-on testing. Listings can change; use the linked Melty page for current access and creator information.
