MASHUP PROFILE

Portal 2 × Minecraft Java Edition

Steve in Portal

Steve in Portal changes how you approach Aperture's test chambers: instead of relying only on portals, you can mine a doorway or break a turret with a diamond pickaxe. The listing places Steve in Portal 2's single-player campaign and reads his skin from your installed Minecraft: Java Edition. Destructible puzzle objects are the catch: a shortcut can also remove something you need to finish a chamber.

How do you dig a usable doorway?

The listing describes each mined block as a one-by-one opening on both sides of a wall. Mine two blocks vertically to make a doorway you can walk through. Floor openings let you drop down; ceiling openings let you jump upward. Press 2 to equip the pickaxe, then click or hold the left mouse button. Press 1 when you want the Portal Gun again.

Why can't you see through the holes?

Portal 2's baked level geometry stays in place: the mod draws openings rather than cutting visible windows into the map. The listing says a hole can provide passage without showing the room behind it. Walls thicker than about nine blocks are too deep to cross this way, so the pickaxe is not an unrestricted route through every surface.

What happens when mining breaks a puzzle?

Turrets, cubes, glass, buttons and doors are among the objects the listing says you can destroy. Removing an object required by a test can make the chamber unsolvable; its documented recovery is Load Last Save. Only the 32 newest holes remain open, older ones close, and loading a save closes all of them. A mined route is temporary rather than a permanent edit to the level.

Limitations and things to know

  • No multiplayer; Portal 2 co-op disables the mashup.
  • Minecraft: Java Edition must be installed locally and played at least once; Bedrock is not the listed requirement.
  • The public description gives no explicit storefront, executable-version or operating-system compatibility specification.
